With thanksgiving, the Love INC board has announced the appointment of Shannon Williamson to serve as Executive Director. Shannon comes to us most recently as a ministry team member and intern supervisor for the Light of the World Prayer Center for the past seven years. Other duties at the Prayer Center have included teaching, vision setting and communication to supporters.
In making its nomination, the Board recognized Shannon as a person with deep faith, excellent communication skills, understanding of poverty, and experience in non-profit ministry leadership. She is committed to a firm grounding in prayer and is keen to engage “hands-on” to achieve Love INC goals.
After growing up in Sequim, Shannon has been living out her call to work for Jesus in missions. Prior to her work at the Prayer Center, Shannon was supervisor of the Drop-In Center for Bellingham’s Lighthouse Mission. In that capacity, she provided general management of the day time shelter and coordinated volunteers.
Just after high school, Shannon served in outreach and public relations for Mercy Ships in parts of Africa and Europe with the organization Youth With A Mission. She then attended Western Washington University graduating in Linguistics with TESOL and Mandarin emphasis. She has attended conferences regarding transforming cultures of poverty in urban
communities and has participated in the growing Whatcom County network of pastors and churches through the Prayer Center.
In 2012, Shannon went abroad again to serve as staff leader for Iris Ministries Harvest Mission in Pemba, Mozambique.
Iris Ministries operates schools for 350 international students that African country. At various times, she has also been leader
for extended mission trips to China, South Africa, Israel and Ireland.
